Irrigation of the entire area

It is a stone-built dam built above the Vasilikos River, about 5.5 km northwest of the community of Kalavasos. This project took place between 1983 and 1985, has a height of 57 metres, a length of 2km and an area of 875,000 sqm. Its capacity is 17 million cubic metres. The dam built as part of the Vasilikos – Pentaschinos water plan is used for the irrigation of 980 hectares of land located between the rivers Vasilikos and Maroni and includes the villages Kalavasos, Maroni, Zygi, Psematomenos, Mari and Tochni.
