Church of Panagia Titiotissa

Kalavasos

It dominates the centre of the Community

In the centre of the village, among the stone-built traditional houses, is the central church, which is dedicated to Panagia Titiotissa and is celebrated on 8 September.

The church was built around 1892, at the beginning of the 19th century. Architecturally it is built in cruciform type. It is a relatively large church and has the comfort to accommodate up to three hundred congregants.

Externally, the church is built with a stone of the area and specifically, stone taken from the nearby village of Tochni. The courtyard of the temple is relatively large and paved. The fence of the temple at the southwest side, is fenced with flower pots and with an iron railing at its northeastern side. To the east of the church and outside the sanctuary, overlapping the building, the tall, arched, bell tower of the church is projected.
