Monastery of Panagia Trooditissa

Foini

Built higher than all the monasteries of the island, at 1370 metres above sea level.

The Holy Monastery of Trooditissa occupies a prominent position among the Cypriot Monasteries, not only for its remarkable natural beauty, which adorns it, but also for its remarkable antiquity, for the wealth of its paintings and, nevertheless, for the tacit action, which it zealously has developed and still develops, despite the repeated difficult circumstances.

The picturesque Trooditissa, as a Commune, regained rhythm of smooth active Monk life in the hands of the Abbot Pagkratios and looked like an oasis in the desert, providing rest to its pious pilgrims and visitors. In April 1968, Abbot Pankratios rested in peace and monk Athanasios assumed the abbotship, continuing the work of his predecessor and the holy mission of the Monastery.
