Foini

Omodos-Fini-Prastio Avdimou-Limnatis-Anogyra

A' route of experiential activities – General Description

The first route of experiential activities is a fun route with a multitude of activities, suitable for young people, which enables travelers to choose from a range of activities and combine them as they wish. This special route includes options for food/ brunch to a visit to waterfalls, wineries and/or processing plants producing traditional sweets.

This route is proposed to be done by road and can be performed without the help of a tour guide. In addition, due to the relatively close distance between the sites of this route, it is possible to complete it within the same day.

Due to the mild weather conditions that usually prevail in Cyprus, the route can be carried out all year round.

A' route of experiential activities – Detailed Description

Initially, it is suggested to travelers to visit the village of Omodos, where they can have breakfast/ lunch and then visit one of the 7 wineries located in the area, experiencing a unique experience of tasting local wine through a guided tour and demonstration of the way of production that takes place. Then, it is suggested to travelers to head to the villages of Fini or Prastio, where they have the opportunity to explore the waterfalls, admiring the enchanting landscape created by the peculiar cavities and small gorges due to the location and the existing hills. At the same time, during their visit to the village of Fini, travelers can not miss the famous Phoenician Loukoumia and visit the Loukoumi workshop located in the village. Then, heading to the village of Limnatis,  travelers can admire and taste the many local, traditional products. Specifically, Limnatis has the largest production of almonds in the whole of Cyprus and is famous for its production of Soutzoukos (or Sousoukos) and other sweets made from almonds. During the visit to the village, one may visit the private factory "Ktima Erotokritos", which manufactures palouze, soutzouko and other almond sweets. Finally, travelers can visit the village of Anogyra to taste the famous pasteli, which is a traditional local product, with several families professionally engaged in its production to date.

The route may well be extended, with a total duration of 2 days. In this case, young travelers are expected to spend the night in one of the local agritourism accommodation and dine in one of the dining areas in the area, continuing the next day with the second route of experiential activities.
