Church of Panagia Eleousa Agrou

Agros

It is quite a big church that can accommodate up to 1500 congregants.

The Church is 97 feet long and 48 feet wide. The dome’s height is 49 feet and the surrounding wall is 4 ½ feet thick. The bell tower is a real sight, tall and tangent to the northeastern corner of the church, it has three large bells. Inside it is whitened but no hagiographies were painted. The altar remains the same, since it was saved during the demolition of the monastery. The iconostasis is a special wealth in the temple. It's wooden and carved. It is surrounded by beautiful icons of the saints painted by the famous hagiographer Solon Frangoulis, which were painted from 1930 to 1934. Inside it is flat and quite spacious with the presence of the additional gynaeconite.

Panagia Eleousa is celebrated on 21 November, where the entrance of Virgin Mary to the church is commemorated. There is a great fair and many believers come to worship its holy icon.
