A' route in Nature

Anarita

Anarita-Kelokedara-Kallepia-Kathikas

A' Route in Nature  – General Description

An adventurous journey exploring the natural environment of the Paphos District. This route is proposed to be done by road and can be performed without the help of a tour guide. This route is suitable for nature lovers as well as for organized tourist groups in order to promote the rich natural beauty of the island.

In addition, due to the relatively close distance between the sites of this route, it is possible to complete it within the same day.

Due to the mild weather conditions that usually prevail in Cyprus, the route can take place all year round, however, it is noted that there may be difficulties in completing it during the winter season.

«A' Route in Nature  – Detailed Description

The  village of Kelokedara is suggested as a starting point, which is linked with the fountain of Vaili, the church of Panagia Sinti, the chapels, and the wonderful natural environment with the watermills on the banks of Xeropotamos, the forest and the cliffs of Ziripili, the "arkadzia" of Potatzi, Peristerka and Kousiai, as well as the mountain of Paoura.

Then to Anarita, where  travelers have the opportunity to visit the dam of Asprokremmos which is the second largest dam of Cyprus. Also, they can relax in the beautiful picnic area, in the area "Kapparovounos", among mulberry, carob and olive trees. Then, they can continue their walk exploring the valleys of the rivers Kourris and Darizos.

It is suggested that the next stop is at the village of Kallepia, where one may visit the highest view point facing the mountains of Troodos, as well as the trail of study of nature "Kallepia – Episkopi".

Finally, the route ends in the village of Kathikas, which is particularly liked by nature lovers, since the known trail of study of nature "Agiasma" is located there, as well as the imposing view point which overlooks Akamas.

The route may well be extended, with a total duration of 2 days. In this case, travelers can stay overnight either at a local agritourism accommodation and dine in one of the dining areas in the area or at the camping area of the village of Kallepia. Therefore, on the 2nd day, travelers have the opportunity to complete this route (if they have not already done so) or to choose and follow one of the remaining routes in nature proposed.
