Chapel of Panagia Chrysospiliotissa

Agios Therapon

Below the church there are caves where ascetics lived.

To the south of the village there is a small chapel of Byzantine style, dedicated to Panagia Chrysospiliotissa. The chapel was built in 1928 and several years later, it was renovated in 1982 and 2000, but without altering its architecture. According to tradition, the chapel was built on the site of an older church, from which nothing is preserved. It is worth mentioning that under the church there are caves, in which ascetics lived. At the time of the persecution of Christians, the caves were the shelters of the ascetics. They were given food and fruits from a hole in the cave. In addition, to obtain water, they had a cistern in which they stored  rainwater.
